Position Overview
TheElectrical Engineerwill be responsible for the design, review, and optimization of electrical systems for C&I solar PV projects. This role involves collaboration with internal teams, external contractors, and clients to ensure all designs meet technical, safety, and regulatory requirements while maximizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design:
Develop and review AC and DC electrical system layouts for C&I PV systems, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, conduit/cable sizing, and grounding plans.
Equipment Specification:
Select and specify inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection devices, and other electrical equipment to meet project requirements.
Code Compliance:
Ensure all designs adhere to NEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, and local AHJ requirements.
Site Assessments:
Conduct electrical evaluations of project sites, including load analysis, interconnection feasibility, and existing infrastructure review.
Power System Studies:
Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination studies.
Interconnection Coordination:
Prepare interconnection applications and work with utilities to ensure smooth grid connection.
Construction Support:
Provide technical guidance during project construction, respond to RFIs, and review electrical submittals.
Quality Assurance:
Perform design reviews and inspections to ensure compliance with engineering standards and best practices.
Project Documentation:
Maintain accurate and organized project files, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or equivalent).
3–5 years of electrical engineering experience in C&I or utility-scale solar PV systems.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, and electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM).
Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, and other relevant electrical standards.
Experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Knowledge of project management principles and construction practices.
Familiarity with AHJ permitting processes and utility interconnection requirements.
