Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and self-motivatedDirector of Residential Solarto lead and launch our residential solar department in Kansas City. This is a key leadership role for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a proven track record in solar sales leadership, and is passionate about clean energy.
You will be responsible for building, leading, and scaling the residential solar division from the ground up—driving sales, growing and mentoring a team of commission-only sales setters, organizing financing solutions, and collaborating with engineering and proposal teams to deliver compelling, accurate proposals to homeowners.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Building:
Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team of commission-only solar setters and closers.
Develop and implement sales processes, KPIs, and incentive structures to ensure success and scalability.
Serve as a strategic leader, working cross-functionally with internal departments to ensure a cohesive and streamlined workflow.
Sales Execution:
Personally drive sales by leading from the front—closing deals, setting examples, and cultivating strong customer relationships.
Represent the company with professionalism and integrity, consistently exceeding sales targets.
Proposal & Engineering Support:
Collaborate with the engineering and proposal teams to ensure accurate system designs, pricing, and technical feasibility.
Provide feedback and guidance on system sizing, equipment selection, and utility requirements.
Financing & Compliance:
Source and manage relationships with solar financing partners.
Ensure that all financing options are properly integrated into proposals and accessible to the sales team.
Stay informed on applicable rebates, incentives, and utility regulations in the Kansas City region.
Strategy & Execution:
Work with leadership to develop and refine go-to-market strategies, territory development, and growth milestones.
Use data-driven decision-making to drive efficiency, improve conversion rates, and increase deal size.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in residential solar, with a strong background in sales leadership.
Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing sales teams, preferably commission-only.
Proven personal sales performance in residential solar.
Strong knowledge of solar system design, proposal generation, and financing options.
Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with CRM software, proposal tools (like Aurora, Helioscope, etc.), and solar design workflows.
Based in or willing to relocate to Kansas City, MO.
