Role: Principal Civil Engineer

Location: Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area

Salary Range: $130,000 – $170,000

With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, this company has successfully completed numerous utility-scale solar projects, contributing significantly to the green energy transition.

They are seeking an accomplished Principal Civil Engineer to join their North Carolina team and take a leadership role in their project development efforts. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in large utility-scale solar projects, particularly in managing the civil engineering aspects such as site design, grading, and drainage. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local and national regulations while integrating best practices in stormwater management and geotechnical assessments. In addition to holding an EIT/FE or PE license, proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or HydroCAD is essential for producing accurate and efficient designs that meet project specifications.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • At least 4 years of experience working on large utility-scale solar projects (50MW+)

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or HydroCAD for detailed civil design and modeling

  • Strong understanding of stormwater management, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and erosion control design

  • Experience conducting geotechnical investigations and analysis, including soil reports, foundation design, and slope stability assessments

  • Ability to coordinate and oversee permitting processes at both state and federal levels

  • Experience with preparing and reviewing grading, site, and drainage plans

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and structural engineers

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with FE/EIT or PE license
