Role: Lead Medium Voltage Engineer

Location: United States

Salary Range: $170,000 – $200,000

Renewyx is representing a leading engineering consultancy that delivers high-quality electrical design and interconnection services for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects nationwide. Known for its technical rigor, agility, and deep understanding of renewable project lifecycles, this firm partners with top developers and EPCs to solve complex grid challenges and accelerate clean energy deployment. With a remote-first structure and a reputation for investing in top engineering talent, they offer a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects from anywhere in the U.S.

They’re seeking a highly capable Lead Medium Voltage Engineer to join their team remotely. In this role, you’ll lead the design and review of medium voltage (MV) systems for large-scale PV and BESS projects, from conceptual design through IFC drawing sets. You’ll be responsible for producing and reviewing one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and detailed MV plan sets using AutoCAD, as well as performing technical reviews and stamping completed designs. Candidates must have hands-on experience with reclosers, SEL protective relays, pole and pad-mounted equipment, and both underground and overhead interconnection design. Familiarity with utility interconnection standards, coordination studies, and grounding/bonding for solar and battery systems is essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performance team where your technical voice will be heard and your contributions will shape real-world energy infrastructure. You’ll enjoy remote flexibility, minimal red tape, and direct access to senior leadership. If you’re a detail-oriented PE who’s passionate about renewables and looking to work on challenging, grid-tied projects at scale, this role is for you.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • 4+ years of experience in medium voltage electrical engineering with utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to produce and QA/QC one-lines, three-lines, conduit/cable schedules, and detailed MV layouts

  • Active PE license (electrical) with the ability to review and stamp final drawing sets and technical reports

  • Experience designing MV collection systems (15kV–35kV), including conductor sizing, cable routing, and protective device selection

  • Strong knowledge of reclosers, SEL relays, switchgear, risers, grounding systems, and pole/tower configurations

  • Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements, including RUS standards and IOU/T&D interconnection processes

  • Ability to perform or review arc flash studies, load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies using tools like ETAP or SKM

  • Experience specifying MV equipment, including pad-mount transformers, junction cabinets, fusing, sectionalizers, and control relays

  • Ability to coordinate with civil and structural engineers on substation and interconnection layouts

If this is an opportunity you have interest in, then please apply to avoid disappointment.
