Commercial Electrical Development Engineer – C&I Solar

📍 Connecticut, United States (Hybrid)


Renewyx is partnering with our client, a leading commercial & industrial (C&I) solar developer, to recruit top engineering talent for their growing team.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer who wants to play a central role in shaping the clean energy landscape while advancing their career with a fast-growing company.


As aCommercial Electrical Development Engineer, you’ll be the technical backbone of the project lifecycle—driving design, coordinating across development and construction, and ensuring projects are executed with precision. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to directly impact the delivery of high-quality solar solutions that power businesses and communities across Connecticut and beyond.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design and technical planning for C&I solar projects from concept through commissioning.

  • Develop single-line diagrams, layouts, and interconnection plans in compliance with NEC, local codes, and utility standards.

  • Partner with sales, permitting, and construction teams to deliver seamless project execution.

  • Perform feasibility studies, system sizing, and performance modeling for solar installations.

  • Review and approve technical submittals, vendor equipment, and material specifications.

  • Manage utility interconnection processes, including application submissions and coordination with utility engineers.

  • Conduct site visits to validate conditions, mitigate risks, and confirm design assumptions.

  • Provide hands-on technical support during construction and commissioning.

  • Maintain organized, accurate project documentation and design records.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of solar project engineering experience, ideally in the C&I sector.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar design software.

  • Strong understanding of NEC codes, utility interconnection standards, and local/state solar regulations.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, inverters, racking, and BOS components.

  • Exceptional communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to thrive both independently and within cross-functional teams.


Preferred:

  • Experience with Connecticut utility interconnection processes.

  • Familiarity with energy storage integration and hybrid solar solutions.

  • EIT or PE license.
